Syria -
  • Republic under an authoritarian regime
  • Leader - Bashar al-Assad
  • Bashar al-Assad's dad was poor and rose up into becoming a government official
  • Been under this type of government for 73 years
  • 73.42 percent of the population votes
  • Most of the votes came from people who were threatened by Assad that if you didn't vote for him,  he would bomb you and your house
  • Syria has 7 year presidency terms. He will be in office until 2021.
Germany
Angela Merkel - leader of Christian Democratic Union
  • President can nominate a new chancellor
  • Named the most powerful women in the world
Joachim Gauck - independent political party
  • Group of people in the government can elect a new president

People are elected by the bundestag
Held every four years
United Kingdom

  • Constitutional Monarchy  - has been around since 1066 and devoloped over several centuries
  • Commonwealth of centuries - has 54 members
  • The prime minister (David Cameron) has no term limits. He stays in office as long as he can keep the confidence of the House of Commons
  • He became prime minister in 2010
  • Leader of the conservative par
